I recently ran into an old friend at a conference I attended in Orlando several weeks ago. We haven’t seen each other in 15 years. We reminisced about old times, talked about our families, and caught each other up on our jobs. We both laughed about how “unready” we were for working at churches when we were freshly graduated at 22 and ready to take on the world. Decades have a way of humbling a man and giving him perspective. We have both learned a lot, both had success and failures, and both now see what a privilege it is to serve a living Savior. We were quick to acknowledge ministry had mainly taught us that we needed God way more than He needed us. As he walked away, I read the back of his church’s shirt which said, “every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”
So true. As we go about life, may we remember this week that we are amongst people that God loves. He is sending us as ambassadors of His Gospel to a lost world to preach the Good News, teach everything He taught, and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Ghost. Take a risk. Have a conversation. Be bold as God’s people.
Mark 16:15- Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
